Grad pics for the Girls (and Guys): A New Take on Graduation

Rethinking What Graduation Photos Can Be

After years of shooting graduation portraits, I found myself craving something more — more realness, more fun, more personality. It’s so easy to fall into the rhythm of traditional grad photos: the same few poses, the same backdrops, the same smile-over-the-shoulder shot that’s been done a thousand times. But graduation isn’t just a milestone — it’s a moment. A culmination of growth, chaos, late nights, big wins, heartbreaks, and everything in between. It’s the moment where the past four years finally come into focus. And I wanted to create a photo experience that actually felt like that.

It all started when I took graduation photos for one of my best friends. We didn’t have a plan. We weren’t rushing through a shot list. We just played. We ran around campus, laughed, blasted music, and created something that felt fresh and genuinely her. It was in that session — having the freedom to create something new with someone I felt so at ease with — that everything clicked. That shoot reminded me how personal and fun graduation photography could be when you throw out the rules and lean into the real.

That’s how Grad Pics for the Girls was born.

These are non-traditional, documentary-style grad sessions — designed for the candid, expressive, fun-loving souls who want to remember this chapter of life as it actually was. Whether you’re graduating from FIU, UM, or another Miami school, these sessions are all about celebrating you — your story, your circle, your personality.

As a Miami graduation photographer, I wanted to offer something that stands apart from the cookie-cutter experience. That’s why I now offer film photography add-ons for a touch of nostalgia, group sessions with your best friends, and even photos with your family or your favorite cafecito in hand. We’ll shoot on the campus you’ve called home — whether it’s the palm-lined walkways of UM or the wide open quads at FIU — capturing the places that hold the memories you’ll never want to forget.

We’ll blast Graduation by Vitamin C, maybe The Spins by Mac Miller, and run around for one last carefree hurrah. No stiff poses, no pressure — just honest, joy-filled images that reflect the way this season feels. I want you to look back on these photos in 10, 20, or 50 years and feel it all over again — the rush, the excitement, the tears, and the pride of it all.

Because your graduation deserves more than a stiff smile in front of a fountain. It deserves to be remembered with personality, movement, laughter, and heart.

Let’s make something unforgettable together.

Work with me for your graduation session for nostalgic memories that will have you reliving the good old days.
