Cata + Josh’s Wedding

Cata and Josh’s Colombia wedding was the kind of weekend that stays with you long after the last song plays. Guests traveled from all over the country to celebrate these two in Colombia, a place deeply sentimental to the bride, who spends every summer there surrounded by family. Set at El Retiro de San Juan, the outdoor venue felt straight out of a period drama—tall ivy hedges winding like a secret garden maze, and the sun came out at the perfect moment in the middle of their ceremony, illuminating the couple ethereally. It was truly the most serendipitous day.

Their wedding was filled with quiet, wholesome moments and big emotional ones, including a surprise mariachi serenade from Josh during the reception that left everyone beaming. The bride’s 15-year old cousin even joined in the serenade, taking center stage and wow-ing me with his vocals. I’m calling it, he is going to be the next Andrea Bocelli. Photographing this celebration on film made every moment feel nostalgic. This is why I love destination weddings —weddings with people that feel like family by the end, in places that hold real meaning.
