God is Everywhere
God is Everywhere" is a peek into heaven. By observing the world through a Christian lens, this piece seeks to find the supernatural in the natural. Taking time to stop and sit in otherwise mundane moments and see the intricacy in their design, these photographs present God as an artist and the world as His canvas.
In January 2024, I began taking photos for this project. All I had was a phrase that I couldn’t shake, “God is Everywhere.” I wanted to create something that showed how the world and humanity pulse out what God breathes in. With a documentary-style approach, I became a fly on the wall to life. I captured tiny moments where I saw Him at work, looking for evidence of something that can’t be concretely seen, but without a doubt can be felt. That is the essence of this piece. The feet of a child, the design of a butterfly’s wings, the glow from raindrops on the window. Simple moments that are anything but. This project challenged me to sit and look for God, because in reality, His evidence is all around.
These photographs are displayed on a large hanging mobile. I wanted them to be experienced, much like I experienced these moments in time. The slow nature of a mobile appealed to me, encouraging my audience to wait as it made a full rotation. A select few of the photographs are printed on transparencies and layered together, creating an entirely new visual that reflects the interconnected nature of creation. Hanging on the mobile are sheets of cellophane that glimmer around the piece as it catches the light.
